LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville sophomore forward Francisco Garcia has been named the Conference USA Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 25.
Garcia led Louisville to a 93-66 home win over then No. 5 Cincinnati on Jan. 21 and a 65-62 victory at Tennessee on Sunday. The 6-7 forward produced 19 points, seven assists, two blocks and two steals without committing a turnover against Cincinnati and helped U of L claim first place in Conference USA.
Garcia followed that performance with a career-high matching 24 points, six rebounds and three steals against the Volunteers. He suffered an ankle injury late in the Tennessee game. He and guard Taquan Dean (groin injury) are doubtful for Wednesday's game against Houston in Freedom Hall.

It was Garcia's second such honor this season. He was named The Sporting News and ESPN.com national Player of the Week, as well as Conference USA Player of the Week for games Dec. 7-13 when he averaged 22.5 points, five rebounds, four assists, 2.5 steals in victories over Seton Hall and then top-ranked Florida.
