
Field Hockey Tops Ohio State 3-2 in OT

Ohio State's Vanessa Immordino knocked in the first goal with Laura Rosenwinkel on the assist just 1:06 into the contest. The Cardinals came on the attack and freshman Jessica Javelet scored at the 10:28 mark to tie the game, 1-1. Louisville continued to put on the offensive pressure and senior Olivia Netzler tallied the Cardinals' second goal at 21:01.
Play continued to remain in the neutral zone for much of the second half. OSU tied the game at 2-2 at the 54:38 mark on another goal by Immordino. Deen Rebstock was credited with the assist. The Buckeyes' second score sent the contest into overtime.
Netzler connected on an pass from senior Shelby Summers for the game-winning goal just 4:10 minutes into the overtime period.
The Cardinals outshot the Buckeyes 9-8. The teams had three penalty corners each. Senior Christy Hershey was credited with three saves for Louisville while Ohio State goalie Lindsay Williams recorded no saves.
U of L will begin Mid-American Conference action on Friday, Sept. 26 when the Cards take on Central Michigan at 4:00 p.m. at Trager Stadium.
