LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior Brad Roach and junior Josh Gentry each won individual titles to lead the University of Louisville men's track and field team to a fourth-place finish at the Cardinal Challenge Saturday at Cardinal Park.

Cincinnati dominated the event with 208 points, followed by Eastern Kentucky (88), Southern Illinois (86), Louisville (82), Marquette (81) and Western Kentucky (37).

Roach won the javelin with a throw of 171 feet, 1 inch, four feet better than the next collegiate finisher.

Gentry finished ahead of the pack in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:18.90. The Jeffersonville, Ind., native knocked 13 seconds off his previous best set earlier this year.

The Cardinals had the top three collegiate finishers in the discus, marking the third time this year that all three throwers placed among the top four in the event. Freshman Arthur Turland achieved NCAA regional qualifying status for the fourth time this year with a season-best throw of 172-7 to place first among collegians. Freshman Brandon Cook improved upon his best mark with a second-place throw of 162-0, while junior Troy Williams was third at 152-0.

In the hammer throw, Turland finished second with a throw of 161-10 and junior John Blackwell was fourth at 145-2. Turland also came in fifth in the shot put (48-4.50).

Junior Marques Robie scored in a pair of sprint events. Robie ran a personal-best time of 10.80 in the 100-meter dash to finish second and also finished sixth in the 200-meter dash in 21.94.

Sophomore Matt Berrier equaled his career-best in the high jump by clearing 6-6.75 to place second.
