Owens and Ghent to Play in Blue-Gray Game

Senior tight ends Richard Owens and Ronnie Ghent of the University of Louisville football team have been selected to participate in the Blue-Gray All-Star Classic in Montgomery, Ala. on December 25 at 3:00 p.m. on ESPN2.
Owens, a four-year performer for the Cardinals, has enjoyed a solid career, catching 36 passes for 371 yards and seven touchdowns. The standout from Middleburg, Fla., has caught 12 passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns in 2003.
Ghent, the only four-time All-Conference USA performer, in the history of the league, has closed out his career in fine fashion. The product of Lakeland, Fla., has caught 32 passes for 376 yards and four scores this season, and has caught a pass in 37 straight games. For his career, Ghent has 118 receptions for 1,304 yards and 15 touchdowns.
The Blue Gray All-Star Classic is the first post-season all-star game each year. This year, the game will be played on Christmas Day and be broadcast live on ESPN2. The tradition-laden game features some of the finest college seniors. Past players and coaches who have participated in the Blue Gray All-Star Classic include Paul "Bear" Bryant (Alabama), Bart Starr (Alabama), Len Dawson (Purdue), Fran Tarkenton (Georgia), Jerry Rice (Mississippi Valley State), Terrell Davis (Georgia), Bruce Smith (Virginia Tech) and Curtis Martin (Pittsburgh).
The Blue Gray Association which operates the Blue Gray Classic, is wholly owned by the Montgomery Lions Club. The proceeds from the Blue Gray Classic benefit sight conservation projects and youth charities. Over $4 million has been provided for these humanitarian services.
