Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino
"I want to thank Austin Peay for coming in and contributing to the Marques Maybin fund. They are an outstanding ball club. If their kids don't get down, they'll challenge Murray State for the OVC crown. They have a difficult schedule and that is what they have to do at that level. They have five seniors and are a heck of a basketball team."
"Any time you play great defense you perform well. We went double sessions every day this week and we have great respect for Austin Peay. We played good basketball and played hardnosed defense."
"I played a lot of people because we forgot to defend the three. Nothing bothers me more than that. When you pose as manequins it is difficult to defend."
"I think our offense has a lot of movement and good spacing. We are trying to emulate the Sacramento Kings and Francisco (Garcia) is very creative. We are competing and not turning it over. The more we pass the better we look. Tonight we did a very good job of passing, but our defense has been our staple."
"When Larry (O'Bannon) comes out passive, Junior (Alhaji Mohammed) gives us a lift off the bench. We need to get Larry playing more aggressvely and have to get Luke (Whitehead) playing the way he is capable of playing."
Austin Peay Coach Dave Loos
"First of all I thought we played hard. I can't fight our effort. We had a tough opponent in Louisville. I was proud of our team. I admire what the University of Louisville and the city has done for Marques Maybin. We are real proud of Marques too. I appreciate the donation from the Daniel Pitino Foundation, coupled with the donation from us and the people of Clarksville where Marques is from.
"They are big and athletic and strong. We tell our guys to post up and play strong, but when the other guys are big and strong it makes it difficult. I think you just have to play strong with the ball. Too many times against pressure like that when you put the ball over your head you'll pay for it."
"There were several points in the game when they could have blown us away. From an effort standpoint we did not show that frustration that we had at Western Kentucky."
