
#18 Volleyball to play TCU in Conference USA

The No. 18 ranked University of Louisville volleyball team will play TCU in the second round of the Pat O'Brien's Conference USA Tournament after TCU advanced by sweeping UAB in the first round.
The Cardinals are seeking their third C-USA Tournament crown with titles in 1998 and 2000. U of L beat TCU in the regular season 3-1 Nov. 7 in Cardinal Arena. TCU is led by All-C-USA third team outside hitter Dominika Szabo.
In the opening match, No. 10 TCU advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2003 C-USA Volleyball Tournament after upsetting seventh-seeded UAB, 3-0 (30-28, 30-25, 30-28) on Friday at Fogelman Arena. The Horned Frogs improve to 20-12 overall, marking their first 20-win season in school history, while the Blazers fall to 14-8 on the season.
All-Freshman honoree Anna Vaughn led TCU, posting 14 kills and only one error for a stellar .565 hitting percentage. She tallied a match-high 15.5 points for the Horned Frogs. Teammate Dominika Swabo followed with 13 kills and 11 digs.
For UAB, Martina Shields fired away 13 kills for a .237 attack percentage. Breanne Swenson recorded her team-leading 15th double-double performance of the season with 12 kills and 10 digs. Swenson added five service aces, just one away from tying the tournament's single-game record. Karen Boyd also posted a season-high .571 attack percentage with 10 kills in 14 attempts.
TCU advances to its first C-USA Tournament quarterfinal match where it will face No. 2 Louisville on Saturday at 1 p.m. (CST). In regular-season play, the Horned Frogs fell to the Cardinals, 3-1, on Nov. 7.
