
Football Signs Two-Year Deal with Miami (Fla.)

LOUISVILLE, KY. - - The University of Louisville and Miami (Fla.) have signed a contract for a two-game commitment that will begin next season, according to U of L Director of Athletics Tom Jurich.
The Cardinals will visit Miami in 2004 tentatively-scheduled for October 9, while the Hurricanes are scheduled to return to Louisville for a game in 2006.
"We're excited to have a home-and-home series with a program as prestigious as the University of Miami," said Jurich. "It's a great opportunity for our program to have the opportunity to compete with one of the top programs in the country, and it will be exciting for our fans in when the Hurricanes return to Louisville in 2006."
"Miami is a great addition to our schedule, both from a competitive standpoint and for recruiting," said head coach Bobby Petrino. "It'll be exciting going to the Orange Bowl next season with all the tradition and history, but it's special for our fans. They'll get an opportunity to travel with us to Florida, but it's great for us to put a consistent national-championship contender in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium."
The Cardinals and Hurricanes have met on nine other occasions with Miami holding an 8-0-1 series advantage. However, the school's will meet next season for the first time since 1985, when the Hurricanes defeated the Cardinals, 45-7, in the Orange Bowl.
Louisville, 7-3, 3-3 in Conference USA, is guaranteed its sixth straight winning season and is also bowl eligible for the sixth consecutive year. The Cardinals host Houston this Saturday in the final home game of the season.
