Louisville Head Coach Bobby Petrino
"I thought our defense played well today. Those 10 (Army) points really are on the offfense, with the interception for a touchdown and putting them in position to after a fumble. That's something we don't do a lot -- turn the ball over. Stefan just made an errant throw and they made a nice catch and run.
"That's not as many points as you would like after gaining that many yards. It was good to watch our players come back after that tough loss last week (at USF). What I really like is the way we came out in the third quarter. I thought our players really came out in the third quarter and took the game over."
"I though Eric got back to running the ball the way he used to and the way he knows he can, with a lot of power.
"We've got to get this one behind us and get ready for Friday night (against Tulane). That's going to be a great game with national TV here in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
(on Stefan LeFors' performance) "That was a great job by Stefan. He's a young man that is a joy to coach because he does what you coach him to do. He prepares very hard. Coach (Jeff) Brohm does a real nice job of getting him ready, knowing where we want the ball to go. If he does one thing better than a lot of other quarterbacks that I've coached, he really doesn't worry who the receiver is. He doesn't force the ball. He just takes what the defense gives him, is very patient, does a nice job moving around. We've got some guys that make great plays for him. You can't say enough of how well Stefan's been so far.
(on Louisville's start to date) "I didn't really know where we would be when we started this out in August. We've just tried to focus on one game at a time. I'm real happy with where we're at, being 5-1. What we've got to do to finish this thing out right is to just concentrate on this Tulane game. This is a big game for us at home. We've got to continue to run the ball well. We tried to work hard on today was to throw the ball down the field. That will help us take pressure off of our running game. What we've done well up to this point is take care of the football, and that's what I was most upset about today, having the turnovers we had. We take pride in taking care of the football. Any time you can win the turnover game and make big plays, you've got a chance to win. That's what we've got to continue to do."
Army Head Coach Todd Berry
"I'm really encouraged by this team in a lot of ways. They keep fighting and scratching. We played TCU tough and had some opportunities in that ball game. We've played some good teams and keep coming out on the tough end. I believe this team has got some abilities once we put things together."
"We struggled on defense, but obviously Louisville had something to do with that. I thought Louisville's quarterback played really well. We wanted to try to challenge him a little bit. We wanted to put a lot of people in the box to limit their ability to run the football, because you've got to stop the run first. They move a lot of people around and try to create some confusion. They got some mismatches today, as much as we tried to hide some of those."
(on playing USF, TCU and Louisville in his last three games) "They're all three great teams. All wil be in the race. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. There's a lot of parity in this conference."
Louisville QB Stefan LeFors
"All week in practice, we practiced those big, deep passes. We stopped ourselves in the first half. It was just a matter of us executing what we were supposed to be doing in the second half.
(on his performance today) "I didn't know I had thrown for that many yards until after the game. When receivers make those kind of plays for you, it makes it easy. I missed a couple of throws today. I'm not really satisfied."
(on the Cards' current position) "It feels good to have only one loss right now, but in my mind I think we could be undefeated. It's only going to get tougher for us. We've got Tulane next. I just heard they lost in a shootout to Houston so there's going to be some fireworks in that game."
Louisville QB/RB/WR Michael Bush
"Coach gave me a heads up all week that I was going to get a lot of playing time. Sometimes when the score gets tight, he might back off on that a bit but he kept me in the game this time.
(On the pass he threw that was dropped) "We practice that a lot and eventually we will connect on that and we'll be having fun then. I get good blocking and it's getting the job done.
(On playing runningback) "I feel Stefan is doing a great job running the offense right now. When they named him in the preseason, I knew he was going to get it. I'm just happy to be out on the field. A lot of freshman all over the country have to redshirt and sit out a year.
(The call on the sweep) "It's a 39-toss and when everybody picks up their block, you can just see the play open up. My job is to just follow Eric (Shelton) and run as fast as I can.
Louisville WR J.R. Russell
"We just want to go out and execute. We aren't looking ahead to TCU; that is down the road. We have Tulane to worry about first. I don't worry about a streak, I just show up and let things happen."
