
Field hockey Shuts Out Kent State 2-0

KENT, Ohio - - The University of Louisville field hockey team handed Kent State its first Mid-American Conference loss with a 2-0 decision Saturday at Dix Stadium in Kent, Ohio. The Cardinals are currently No. 20 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association rankings.
After more than 48 minutes of scoreless play, freshman Lisa Wasser connected on an assist from sophomore April White as the Cardinals took advantage of a penalty corner took and a 1-0 lead at the 48:16 mark in the game.
Senior Desire' Miller converted a penalty stroke with 12 minutes left in the game to give the Cards an insurance goal.
U of L's starting goalkeeper, Christy Hershey, posted eight saves in her third shutout of the season. Kent State's Jessica Creeden had three stops in the game. Louisville outshot the Golden Flashes 18-13 and held a 12-5 penalty corner advantage. KSU falls to 6-8 (4-1 MAC).
The Cardinals (7-6, 3-2) will continue league play when they travel to Mt. Pleasant, Mich., to face Central Michigan on Friday, Oct. 17 at 2:00 p.m.
