Davis Has Surgery to Repair Facial Injury

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville junior guard Prileu Davis (pronounced PRAY-low) underwent surgery Thursday morning at Jewish Hospital to repair a fractured left eye orbit.
Davis sustained incidental contact with another player's elbow in the face just above his left eye during an individual instruction drill Tuesday morning. Dr. Dale Roberts, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, performed the operation.
A 6-3, 180-pound junior college transfer from Phoenix (Ariz.) College, Davis is expected to participate in light workouts within two weeks and return to full basketball competition in four weeks. U of L begins practice for the 2002-03 season on Oct. 12.
Davis averaged 22.9 points, 5.3 assists and 3.2 steals as a sophomore last season at Phoenix (Ariz.) College. He shot 46 percent from the field, including 41 percent from three-point range, and 82 percent at the free throw line.
