
Men's Basketball Falls To Saint Louis, 56-50

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Marque Perry scored 16 points and had seven assists, and Jason Edwin added 11 points, pacing Saint Louis to a 56-50 Conference USA victory over Louisville on Friday night.
Saint Louis (13-15, 7-7) moved into sole possession of fourth place in the American Division while Louisville (15-11, 6-8) fell into fifth place. The Billikens have won four of their past six games and have beaten the Cardinals five of the past six meetings, including the last four.
Reece Gaines led Louisville with 29 points. Bryant Northern added 10.
Saint Louis led by 14 points early in the second half before a 9-2 Louisville run cut the margin to 36-32 with 10:40 left.
The Billikens countered with a Perry field goal and an Edwin 3-pointer to push the margin to 41-32 with 8:21 remaining. After another Edwin 3-pointer, Louisville scored seven unanswered points, closing to 44-41 with 6:14 left.
Edwin, who scored eight of his 11 points in the final 8:21, sank two free throws and hit a 3-pointer around two Perry free throws to put Saint Louis up 48-41. Louisville closed to 53-50 with 27 seconds left.
Perry scored six of Saint Louis' first eight points. Trailing 10-7 with 13:54 left in the first half, the Cardinals did not get another field goal for the next 7:30, scoring just a free throw as Saint Louis pushed its lead to 15-8.
The Billikens then began to pull away, using a 12-4 run to lead 27-14 before ending the first half with a 29-17 advantage.
