Louisville Head Coach John L. Smith
"Good things happened today. Our number one goal was sending the seniors out today as winners in front of the home crowd. We want every player who passes through our door to come out of here as winners here and in life. It's great to see everyone come together and play for the seniors. That was neat. They are a great group of kids and I hate to see them go. I'm extremely proud of them."
(on QB Dave Ragone) "Dave went out the way he should, with the most wins than anyone who has ever played here."
"If we could correct procedures and holds, then we'd be a high profile offense. We have had a yo-yo year. The yo-yo games kind of reflect the yo-yo year. There has been a lot of adversity this year, and to get out here with seven years and hopefully next week eight, then that will be good. There are a lot of teams who would like to have eight wins in a year."
(On RB T.J. Patterson) "T.J. really had a good game. He ran hard and had a good day."
UAB Head Coach Watson Brown
"I did not think they could run the football against us like that. Nobody has done that the last few weeks. I don't know why. I know we missed a lot of tackles that turned into bigger yards. I thought that was the difference in the game. We played the pass well. They won every phase that they needed to win the game."
(on Dave Ragone) "He's been a special player for three years. I still say he's the player of the year in the conference. His offense has been down a little but he's probably made more plays this year than any other year. Dave Ragone is just a special kid that the league has been lucky to have."
Louisville Quarterback Dave Ragone
(on becoming the all-time winningest QB at U of L) "It's a great accomplishment. It's what I have always wanted to do here. I knew I couldn't touch Chris' (Redman) records, so that was my goal and it was great we were able to do it."
"I think for the most part we left this place with a legacy. We had five winning years and five bowl games. I hope the quarterback that follows me does better. That means the program is climbing more."
"We are on a roll now. We have a little winning streak so hopefully we can go down to Houston and continue the success."
"The offensive line did a great job. We wanted to be able to run the ball and we did. It is a great honor for what Coach (Danny) Hope has done with that group. The guys up front had the confidence that they could beat their man and that is what it takes. Confidence."
Louisville Defensive End Devon Thomas
"It's great to play like this on senior day. The defense played well, the offense was able to run the ball, so that's great. I am happy to be here."
"We have one more game in the regular season. Let's not blow it now. We need to play hard, go to a bowl game and get a nine-win season."
(On the final trip around the stadium after the game) "I made it a point to start at the very corner and end at the very corner. The fans here at Louisville have been great, the best in the country as far as I am concerned. They stay until the end. I wanted to show my appreciation for them. I tried to sign every autograph and slap every hand."
