
Volleyball Sinks ECU Pirates 3-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Freshman Lena Ustymenko had 15 kills and two blocks to lead the University of Louisville toa 30-20, 30-13, 30-17 win over East Carolina in Conference USA volleyball action Saturday night at Cardinal Arena.
U of L improves its record to 16-3 and 5-0 in the C-USA. The Cardinals have won seven in a row and 12 of the last 13 matches. East Carolina drops to 4-17 and 0-6 in the league.
"We are hitting the ball so well right now," said Leonid Yelin. "Bing (Sun) and Lena had a very hot hand on offense. They didn't have an answer for that. For the last three matches, we have hit .390 or better."
U of L hit .640 in the first game with 17 kills on 25 attacks and just one error. U of L hit better than .310 in all three games. For the match, U of L hit .394. The Cardinals even had a hot serving hand with six aces, with Sun and Anastasia Zaitseva nailing two apiece. The Cardinals outblocked the Pirates 7-4 with setter Jennifer Craven and Benny Flynn each recording three.
ECU was led by Sarah Vick with 12 kills and an ace.
