LOUISVILLE, KY -- University of Louisville quarterback Dave Ragone has been named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week following his career-high 368-yard passing performance versus Kentucky. Ragone earns the award ahead of Southern Miss QB Jeff Kelly, TCU running back Ricky Madison, Tulane QB Patrick Ramsey and UAB wide receiver Willie Quinnie.
Versus the Wildcats, Ragone completed 21 of 34 throws including three touchdown strikes as the Cardinals earned a 36-10 victory over their in-state rivals. The Cleveland, Ohio native rushed for just three net yards but his 28-yard scramble in the third quarter set up the Cards' go-ahead touchdown.
The C-USA Offensive Player of the Year in 2000, Ragone earned the league's weekly honor three times a year ago as U of L captured its first-ever C-USA title.
Ragone and his Cardinal teammates return to the gridiron this Saturday playing host to Western Carolina. Kickoff time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
