LOUISVILLE, KY -- The University of Louisville and the University of Illinois announced tonight that their postponed Sept. 15 contest will be played Saturday, Sept. 22 in Champaign, Ill. Gametime and television arrangements have not been determined.
"I'm happy that we were able to find a mutually acceptable date and reschedule this game," said U of L Director of Athletics Tom Jurich. "It's a game that was important for us to play and I know it's important to Illinois. Any time you get a chance to play a Big Ten school like Illinois, you want to be able to fulfill that opportunity."
As a result of the rescheduling, Illinois' previously scheduled Sept. 22 game at Michigan has been moved to Sept. 29 in Ann Arbor.
"I know our kids will be excited to get back on the playing field after what has be a long and painful week for our country," said U of L head football coach John L. Smith. "We appreciate Illinois and Michigan's flexibility to make this game happen."
