An Open Letter to Football Fans:
We at the AXA Liberty Bowl would like to congratulate the University of Louisville on an incredibly successful football season. Coach John L. Smith and his team overcame their share of adversity this season through hard work and determination in winning their second straight Conference USA Championship. The nation's eyes will surely be focused on this marquee match up between two highly ranked conference champions in the 43rd annual AXA Liberty Bowl. BYU is the nation's highest scoring team and will be an exciting opponent for the Cardinals.
We are pleased to serve as your host in back-to-back years. We recognize we can improve some areas that adversely affected some of the Cardinal fans that made the short trip to Memphis last year. Certain subcontractors of the City did not supply appropriate staffing last year. All those contractors have been replaced and a totally new staff is in place at the stadium to make your experience enjoyable this year.
I want to make it clear to all the U of L fans that will join us in Memphis to celebrate on New Year's Eve that we will provide a first-class event at the AXA Liberty Bowl. We pledge to not only correct those issues whish detracted from your enjoyment last year, but to enhance our operations to make this our finest event yet. Louisville fans have exhibited their support of their team and this event and we will in turn match that spirit and assure an enjoyable visit here.
Our staff and the City of Memphis have been preparing over the past year to provide a fun experience though our official events - including the game which features a halftime performance by Three Dog Night - and the many entertainment options offered in the Memphis area and nearby Tunica, Mississippi. The U of L team headquarters at the Peabody Hotel will be centered around a flurry of downtown activities and nightlife on legendary Beale Street that is sure to offer a memorable New Year's Eve experience. With the renewed sense of unity and patriotism in our nation, there is perhaps no better place to celebrate than at the AXA Liberty Bowl which was founded on the principles of patriotism and freedom.
