LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Emily Roberson had 10 kills and three service aces to lead the University of Louisville volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of IUPUI at Cardinal Arena Tuesday night.
The Cardinals, now 19-5, won 30-22, 30-13, 30-18. IUPUI drops to 6-20.
"IUPUI has struggled with injuries so they were vulnerable. We have been on a roll lately," said Leonid Yelin, U of L head coach, whose team has played seven matches in 13 days and winning six. The Cardinals hit .396 for the match, including a .500 outing in the third game when they had 16 kills on 28 attacks and just two errors. U of L aced the Jaguars nine times and committed just one service error.
Sonja Percan had 11 kills on 21 attacks and Stacey Mercer connected for eight kills on 15 attacks and no errors.
Roberson was filling in for the injured Anastasia Zaitseva, who sprained her ankle in practice and did not play.
"Emily is a versatile athlete who has played just about everywhere for us," said Yelin. "She is such a competitor, she took advantage of her opportunity to play front row for a change."
IUPUI was led by Michelle Hamblen and Morgan Spaulding, both of whom had 10 kills.
