LOUISVILLE, KY. -- Sonja Percan had 13 kills to lead the University of Louisville to a three-game sweep of Charlotte in Conference USA volleyball action at Cardinal Arena.
Louisville, 18-15, improves to 12-3 in C-USA with the 30-17, 30-19, 30-16 win. Charlotte falls to 12-14 and 3-11 in the league.
"We had an outstanding night hitting and blocking," said U of L head coach Leonid Yelin. "We were able to pass the ball well, something we work on in practice all the time."
The Cardinals hit .337 with 45 kills on 98 attacks for the match. Charlotte was outblocked nine to four.
Charlotte worked against itself at times, with more errors than kills. The 49ers committed 26 hitting errors, eight service errors and were whistled for blocking errors twice.
The Cardinals had a few miscues too, with 10 service aces and five blocking errors. However, they had 45b kills on 98 attacks and aced the 49ers six times. But a .337 hitting percentage helps to smooth bumps in the road.
"We were able to distribute the ballwell and give them a different look," said Yelin.
Besides Percan's 13, Lesley Drury had seven kills on 13 attacks and no errors. Anastasia Zaitseva added eight and Benny Flynn contributed eight. Stacey Mercer had a match-high three blocks.
"We are working on refining our game," said Percan. "We have the basics down, now we are taking care of details."
The Cardinals will host IUPUI on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Cardinal Arena.
