Louisville Notes
- Senior WR Deion Branch (9 catches, 147 yards) surpassed 100 receiving yards for the 10th time in his 22-game career (five times this season). He has caught five or more passes in 17 of his 22 games.
- Sophomore DE Dewayne White established a new U of L single-season record with 20 tackles for loss (two tackles for a loss of nine yards today). In just 21 career games, White is also fifth in career sacks for the Cardinals' with 24, including two today.
- Junior QB Dave Ragone (19 of 27 passes, 246 yards, 2 TDs in three quarters of action) passed the 5,000 career passing mark and moved up to fifth in career passing at U of L (5,033 career passing yards). It was Ragone's fourth straight game without an interception. The Cardinals are 18-4 with Ragone as the starting quarterback over the last two seasons.
- In the past five games, the Cards have allowed just one second-half touchdown (vs. Southern Miss). Louisville entered the game seventh nationally in scoring defense (14.67 points allowed per game).
- Junior S Anthony Floyd's 52-yard punt return for a touchdown was the second TD for the Cards this season on a punt return. Deion Branch had a 61-yard punt return for a score against Western Carolina earlier this season (9/8/01). It is the first time since 1977 two different Cardinals returned punts for TDs (Kevin Miller and Zarko Ellis).
- On this eve of Veteran's Day, nearly 900 Ft. Knox soldiers were in attendance, made possible by the following sponsors: Papa John's, Fischer Packing Company, Hooter's, Kroger, Pepsi and the Parrish House.
- Lea Thurman (humanities major) and Nathan Dooley (business marketing major) were named homecoming queen and king, respectively.
- The sold-out crowd of 40,479 was the largest of the season in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. U of L completed a perfect 6-0 record at home this season and stands at 15-5 in four seasons in its sparkling facility. It was U of L's first undefeated home season since 1993. The Cards have won their last eight straight at home.
