Field Hockey Upends Indiana 3-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The ninth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team defeated Indiana 3-0 on Sunday at Indiana's Mellencamp Pavillion.
Louisville tallied seven shots on goal in the first half with Kim Hughes connecting on a penalty corner pass from Danielle Barr with 15:35 remaining in the half to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead at halftime.
U of L's Olivia Netzler added an insurance goal five minutes into the first half when she scored off of a deflected ball in front of the IU goal to give Louisville a 2-0 lead. Joanie Frame finished the scoring when when netted a feed from Hughes with 20:59 left in the game.
Louisville held a 13-1 shot advantage and had seven penalty corners to Indiana's one.
Goalkeepers Christy Hershey and Janina Perna helped the Cardinals to their sixth shutout of the season with Hershey collecting one save in the process.
Indiana goalkeeper Molly Pulkrabek recorded seven saves. The Hoosiers fall to 1-9 on the season.
Louisville (11-2, 4-1 MAC) will play host to league opponents Central Michigan on Friday, Oct. 12 at 4:00 p.m. and Ball State on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Trager Stadium.
