
Maybin Earns Conference USA Player of the Week Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville senior guard Marques Maybin has been honored as the Conference USA men's basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 27.
In leading the Cardinals to a pair of Conference USA victories, Maybin averaged 24.5 points and three assists as the Cardinals climbed into second place in the C-USA American Division.
He had 19 points, four assists and three steals at Cincinnati, helping Louisville break the Bearcats' string of 34 consecutive home C-USA victories. He matched a career-high with 30 points against DePaul in Freedom Hall, scoring 16 of the Cards' last 22 points in the game to lead Louisville to victory. It was Maybin's 10th game this season to score 20 or more points.
Maybin surpassed 1,400 career points on the week, jumping to No. 19 on the all-time U of L scoring list and No. 4 all-time in Conference USA with 1,448 career points.
Maybin is averaging 18.7 points a game, the highest scoring average for a Cardinal since Darrell Griffith produced 22.9 points a game in U of L's 1979-80 NCAA Championship season. He is second in Conference USA in scoring and also ranks among the leaders in three-point percentage (fifth, .414) and free throw percentage (11th, .769).
