LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Tony Williams scored 15 of his 16 points in the second half while Nate Johnson and Marques Maybin added 14 as Louisville won its fifth straight game, 78-58 over Central Florida Wednesday night.
Louisville (5-2) trailed 33-22 early in the second half before going on a 27-8 run to lead 49-41 with 7:12 left in the game. Williams had 11 of his points during the run and Johnson added six points.
Louisville, leading 59-50 with 4:33 remaining, outscored the Golden Knights 12-2 over the next 2:39 to lead 71-52 with 1:51 remaining.
Central Florida (1-8) trailed 18-17 with 6:13 left in the first half, but outscored the Cardinals 15-4 over the remainder of the half to lead 32-22.
Jason Thornton had six of his nine points during the run and D'Quarius Stewart had five of his 12 points during the run. Roy Leath led the Golden Knights with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Paul Reed added 11 points.
Louisville missed its first 11 shots from the field and shot only 22.6 percent in the first half. Louisville finished making the game shooting 40.3 percent from the field, hitting 27-of-67. The Cardinals were 4-of-16 in three-point attempts.
Central Florida shot 41.1 percent from the field, making 23 of 56 and turned the ball over 27 times.
