LOUISVILLE, KY -- University of Louisville wide receiver Arnold Jackson, cornerback Rashad Holman and defensive tackle Donovan Arp have accepted invitations to the 2001 Hula Bowl All-Star Classic to be played January 20 in Honolulu.
The three become the first Cardinals since 1998 to participate in the post-season showcase when offensive lineman Rick Nord took part.
The NCAA Division I-A all-time leader in career receptions with 300, Jackson caught 63 passes in 2000 for 609 yards and five touchdowns. The speedster from Jacksonville, Fla. has caught a pass in all 46 of his collegiate contests entering the Cardinals' Dec. 29 Liberty Bowl contest with Colorado State.
A product of local Male High School, Holman improved his stock in the eyes of National Football League scouts in 2000 recording six interceptions and breaking up a school record 20 passes. Holman, who recorded 51 total tackles, was a key figure on a Cardinal defense that intercepted 27 passes this season, the most among Division I-A squads.
Arp has started all 23 U of L contests since his arrival from Snow Junior College prior to the '99 season.
In just two seasons, the Salt Lake City native accounted for 32 tackles for loss including 16 this season. His play in the middle of the defensive line was key in the Cardinal defense ranking 14th in total defense and fourth against the run allowing just 79.9 ground yards per game in 2000.
The Hula Bowl Classic will be televised live by ESPN.
