Men's Basketball Holds Annual Media Day

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville men's basketball coach Denny Crum spoke about the upcoming 2000-01 season at the annual media day held Thursday afternoon in Cardinal Arena.
Crum, who is entering his 30th season at the helm of the Cardinals, returns two starters in senior guard Marques Maybin and sophomore guard Reece Gaines from last year's 19-12 squad.
Louisville begins practice Saturday morning at a special "Morning Madness" event at 9 a.m. in Cardinal Arena.
In the first practice session for both the U of L men's and women's teams, the women will take the court first, finishing with a brief scrimmage from 9-9:15 a.m. Free food, promotional giveaways including merchandise from the Cards' new affiliation with adidas, and fan contests -- including a chance for one person to sink a half-court shot for $10,000 -- will be featured at the event. Past U of L basketball stars will also be present.
Tickets to the free event are "sold out," but a limited number of seats will also be available on the morning of the event on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. for ticketed customers while the remaining customers will be admitted at 9 a.m. Ticketed customers must be seated by 9 a.m. to retain their seats.
