Bio
2020: Mia played in 21 sets and recorded one ace and 11 total digs. Her season high came against Northern Kentucky, when she had four digs. She had an ace in the Duke match.
2020: Mia (pronounced MEE-ya) played in 24 sets with one assist and an ace and recorded 13 digs. Against San Diego, she had two digs. An outstanding student, Mia was a member of the 2020 ACC Honor Roll and a Red and Black Scholar (2020).
2019: Mia Stander played in 30 matches last year at defensive specialist. She had 10 aces, 29 assists and 122 digs (fifth on the team). She had a season-high 12 digs at Western Kentucky after notching 10 against Samford in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. A steady server, Stander had 10 aces with a season high two at Boston College. She tallied 29 assists with a season high four at Miami. She even notched a kill at Notre Dame on a broken play. Mia is a member of the ACC Honor Roll and is a Red and Black Scholar
2018: Mia played in 99 sets last year as a defensive specialist. She notched 13 service aces with a high of two versus Purdue, Pitt and Miami. She had 196 digs with eight matches in double digits, led by a 22-dig performance at Notre Dame and 12 versus Lipscomb, NC State, Virginia, and Boston College. She also picked up 23 assists.
Prep: Mia Stander, a 5-3 defensive specialist from Atlanta, Ga., played for Marist High School for Coach Karen Arndt and club ball for A5 under Coach John Haroun and Gabe Aramian. Her A5 Club team won the 2016 National Championship and she was named to the National All-Tournament Team. They were also 2016 AAU National Champions and the AAU 2017 National RunnersUp in 2017. As a senior at Marist, she helped her team to a State Championship as the varsity team captain. She has earned All-State honors as a junior and honorable mention All-State as a senior. She was also all-area as both a junior and senior.
