Bio
2017: Gabbie was the starting defensive specialist and was UofL’s most dependable. As team captain, she was second on the team in service aces with 27 and 379 digs. A two-year starter, she played in 333 career sets with 653 career digs and 59 career aces and helped lead the Cardinals to ACC Championships in 2015 and 2017. An outstanding student, the pre-med major has never missed a semester on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Red & Black Scholar, and the Dean's List. As a senior, she had five aces against rival Western Kentucky and had 10 matches of 10+ digs. The senior lefty had 28 digs against UNC which was a team season-high and a career-high. She finished her senior season with a defensive surge, averaging 19.7 digs per match in the final 10 matches of 2017. She was on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, and wa on the 2017 ACC Academic Honor Roll. Her academic success earned her the prestigious ACC 2018 Weaver-James-Corrigan postgraduate scholarship.
2016: During her junior campaign, Gabbie played in every match in 2016. She had a season-high 17 digs and one ace versus Florida State on Oct. 28. Wiley had five digs and three aces in the three-set win over Boston College on Senior Day. She finished the season with 186 digs, 13 aces, 13 assists, and one kill. Gabbie was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the second straight year.
2015: Gabbie played in 65 sets, primarily as a defensive specialist. She had eight service aces and 23 digs. She had a season-high three aces versus Duke and had four digs at Boston College. During the European trip in 2016, Wiley played defensive specialist, libero and outside hitter for the Cardinals. She was a member of the ACC Honor Roll and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
2014: Gabbie saw action in 20 matches in her freshman season, playing in 45 sets. She tallied a season-high 19 digs, three assists, and tallied five service aces vs. Pitt.
Prep: Gabbie came to the Ville from Hannibal High School where she played for Amber Riefesel and Kelsey Ortworth. At Hannibal, she was named All-Conference and All-District for four straight years and made All-Region second team in 2012. She was All-Area first team 2011-2013. She led her team to the District Championship, a first for her school in 25 years. She was named All-Around MVP for 2011 and 2012 and was an Academic All-State selection. She was a Prep Volleyball Frosh 59, Sophomore 79 and a Prep Volleyball Senior Ace in 2013. She won the Team Captain Award in 2013. She also ran track where she was All-State in the 4 x 400 and in the high jump. For High Performance under Cary Cusumano and John Rodgers, she helped her team earn a first ever Open Bid to the 2013 USA Nationals.
Personal: Daughter of Kevin Wile and Lynn Boland. Born August 6, 1995. Major is exercise science (pre-med).
