2007-08: Megan won the 2008 Wilma Rudolph Award. The award honors student-athletes who have overcome great personal, academic and/or emotional odds to achieve success in the classroom.The award is named after the former track and field standout. Rudolph became the first American female athlete to win three gold medals in a single Olympic Games. At the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, she took home gold in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 4x100-meter relay. Megan suffered from a brain tumor that left her unable to walk. After surgery, she has progressed from a wheelchair, to a walker and finally back on the tennis court. After having to relearn many of her language skills, Helton has been an Athletic Director's Honor Roll and was a 2008 BIG EAST Academic All-Star.

High School: Megan lettered all four years at Louisville's Male High School. Played No. 1 Singles and No. 1 doubles for Male's coach Anita Dillman. She made it to the semi-finals at the Louisville Invitational. Personal: Daughter of Lynn Helton. Born July 31, 1987. Major is political science.
