Fifth year in 2024-25
• Appeared in three total games, tallying four total minutes and one rebound
• Missed nearly all of conference play with an arm injury
• Named to 2023 NABC Honors Court for academic excellence
Before Louisville
• Transfer guard who has been a member of the University of Maryland men’s basketball team the last two seasons.
• While studying kinesiology at Maryland, McCool earned 2022 Academic All-Big Ten honors for achieving a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. He saw action in five games over his two years with the Terrapins, playing a career-best five minutes against Iowa as a sophomore while contributing two points and an assist. He scored his first collegiate points on a pair of free throws against Wingate as a freshman.
• Before his stint at Maryland where he played under current UofL associate head coach Danny Manning, McCool averaged 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists as a senior in helping Bishop England High School in Charleston, S.C. achieve a 26-3 record and the Region-AAA championship. Bishop England won its first 20 games of the 2019-20 season.
• McCool earned all-region and The Post and Courier All-Lowcountry accolades his three varsity high school seasons. He scored 1,052 career points in his three seasons at Bishop England while connecting on 35.5 percent of his three-point attempts (152-of-428).

• Born Sept. 5, 2001 … Son of Deirdre and Chris McCool … Has one sibling: Abby … Major is exercise science.
• His father and uncle swam collegiately at Kansas and Columbia, respectively, and he has multiple cousins who've played college volleyball.
• Personal goal at UofL is to maintain a high GPA and possibly get his master’s degree.
• Chose to attend UofL because of “the coaching staff and the great program.”
• Enjoys movies and TV shows in his spare time.
• The basketball player he most admires is Jimmy Butler.
• Best moment of his athletic career was his team being called on Selection Sunday his freshman year.
• If you walked into his dorm room, the first thing you would notice is his 70-inch TV.
