John Herron was named to the position of recruiting coordinator for Louisville football prior to the 2023 season.
Herron comes to Louisville following four seasons as the assistant director of player personnel and the director of recruiting on the offensive side of the ball at the University of Florida. He also worked as the director of on campus recruiting for the Gators from 2016-18 before spending a season at Florida State University as the director of recruiting/high school relations between stints in Gainesville.
Prior to breaking into the collegiate ranks, Herron served as a special education teacher at various Florida high schools from 1997-2016, most recently teaching at Miami Southridge High School while also coaching the school’s varsity boys’ basketball and boys’ cross country teams.
He also taught and coached boys’ basketball at South Dade High School from 2001-2015 after beginning his career with a four-year teaching stint at Eastside High School in Gainesville from 1997-2001.
Herron earned a bachelor’s degree in special education from Florida in 1996.
