Bio
Sophomore: As a sophomore, Ahern continued to contribute strong swims for the Cardinal breaststroke squad. Against Missouri, she recorded a third place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 1:05.03. Other highlights include a fourth place showing in the 100 breast at the Ohio State Winter Invite in a season-best 1:03.35. She also posted a top-eight finish in the 100 breast (1:03.83) and a season-best 200 breast (2:20.17) at the UofL Invitational. Ahern competed in the Arena Pro Swim Series, swimming in the 200-meter breast (2:45.60), 200-meter IM (2:39.09), and placing in the top-16 in the 100-breast (1:14.06).
Freshman: Ahern lent depth to the Cardinal Breaststroke Family. Her season highlights included a third place finish versus Cincinnati in the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.44. She was fourth at the UofL Invitational with a time of 1:03.24. In the 200 breast, she put up a 2:24.18 at the UofL Invitational. She competed at the Arena Pro Series in the 100-meter breast (1:14.64), 200-meter breast (2:45.93), and the 200-meter IM. At the Speedo Sectionals, she was fifth in the finals of the 100-meter breast (1:13.85)
Prep: Ahern joined the Cardinals coming off a strong prep performance at the FHSAA 4A State Championships where she won the 100 breast in a time of 1:03.30 for St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Coach Jimmy Parmenter. As the St. Thomas Aquinas Team MVP, she was an automatic All-American Qualifier. She was named to the 2014 Miami Herald All-Broward County First team. She was named a 2014 All-American in the 100 breast and the 2014 St. Thomas Aquinas High School Swim Team MVP. Ahern is a member of the National Honors Society and was a two-time Scholastic All-American. She swam club for Swim Fort Lauderdale for Coach Dave Gibson and was the 2015 Senior Swimmer of the Year. She was a Summer Junior Nationals Qualifier in the 100 breast. Her best time in the 100 breast was 1:03.30 and a 2:20.49 in the 200 breast.
