Bio
Junior: Gur had a standout junior campaign, qualifying for the NCAA Championships for the first time in his career where he placed 20th on the platform with a final score of 317.90. He punched his ticket to NCAAs after placing eighth on the platform at the NCAA Zone C Championships with a score of 692.40. At the ACC Championships, Gur dove to fourth on the platform (371.40), 10th on the 3-meter (335.40), and 22nd on the 1-meter (275.10). His score of 371.40 on the platform set a new UofL program record. Gur also finished fifth on the 3-meter and sixth on the 1-meter against Notre Dame while taking sixth and seventh, respectively, in those events versus Kentucky.
Sophomore: After a strong freshman season, Gur picked up right where he left off as a sophomore. At the ACC Championships, he finished eighth on the 10-meter (298.15), 19th on the 3-meter (277.10), and 23rd on the 1-meter (252.05). Gur dove to second on the 10-meter (344.15) at the NC State Wolfpack Invitational where he also placed fifth on the 1-meter (291.00). Throughout dual meet competition, he recorded nine top-five finishes highlighted by a pair of third-place showings on the 1-meter (281.70) and 3-meter (300.08) versus Notre Dame. He was also named to the CSCAA All-American team for the platform and 1-meter.
Freshman: Gur made an immediate impact for the Cardinals in his debut season. He qualified for the NCAA Zone C Championships, where he finished 12 overall on platform with a combined score of 626.40. Gur also was selected as a member of the Cards’ ACC Championships squad, which was highlighted by a 15th place finish on the platform with a score of 267.25. At the IU Invitational, Gur recorded a fourth place finish on platform (306.80), seventh place finish on the 3-meter (313.95) and eighth place finish on the 1-meter (281.40). In the dual meet season, Gur’s top finish occurred in the victory over Missouri, where he placed third overall on the platform.
Prep: Hailing from Turkey, Gur brings a wealth of international experience to the Cardinals’ diving contingent. At the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku, he claimed gold on the platform with an overall score of 320.95. At the 2015 European Junior Championships, he finished sixth overall on the platform, while taking ninth overall in the same event at the 2015 European Games. He also competed at the 2017 European Junior Championships, where he took 11th on the platform.
Personal: Son of Remaiye and Vedat Gur. Born on Feb. 10, 2000.
