(Opening statement)
"Proud of our team. I thought we did what we had to do to come out and win the football game. Got off to a little bit of a rocky start, a little rough at the beginning, but we regrouped and played hard to the end. It was good to see a lot of people play and get in the game, which is important. All these guys work hard, so when you get a chance to play everybody, it's great to see because at some point their number is going to be called. That was great, I thought we had great fan turnout. The fans showed up. They were ready, they were excited, they were into the game. It was great to see that. I thought the lights, the new lights were outstanding. So, it's a good first home game and proud of our effort. And of course, now we move on to tough conference games starting with SMU which will be a battle – and they've had our number. We're going to have to have a great week of practice and continue to get better and play well next week. But proud of our team today and we'll try to get as healthy as we can and get ready for SMU."             Â

"He's a lot of fun to coach. Lawayne's got a great personality. He's got a good feel for the game, he knows how to get open. He knows how to create some space. Just a really good understanding of the game of football so I think Lincoln (Kienholz) feels comfortable with him. For us to win, he's got to make plays for us and he's got to understand that. Tre Richardson's got to make plays for us every game; he's done a good job. Treyshun Hurry is a good piece there too. He hasn't got as many reps but he's strong, physical. I think we've just got to continue to feed the playmakers. It was good to see our tight ends get some catches, our running backs ran hard and our o-line played hard. We've just got to continue to make sure that those main guys get as many touches as we can give them."Â

"I think we've got a good running back room. Of course Isaac [Brown] is dynamic, he can break plays, we just haven't found a way to create the open space, so he's just got to keep working through it. Keyjuan Brown runs hard, he got nicked up and hit a little bit, so we'll see what's going on with him. Marquise [Davis] has practiced well and works really hard and runs hard and came through and ran some tackles. Braxton Jennings has always been steady, came in and ran the ball good. That room has depth and it's good to see and we've got competition there and they all can do some different things. In order to have some balance, they've got to perform well for us, but I thought they did a good job running the ball and taking care of it."

He's someone that I can joke around with a lot, but then at the same time he's someone that also listens and understands kind of where I'm coming from. "That's something I feel like I've earned. Being here now, going on three years, it was ups and downs but now, it's just all ups. Keep it positive, and next-play mentality, just wipe the drop out of my mind. Next play, we call a somewhat similar play and then take it to the house. That's all you've got to do."

"We know how to play as a defense. They kind of were just like, keep going, keep doing your thing. There wasn't really a message. We know what we had to do. We let up a field goal, we shouldn't have let that happen. We knew we had to come back out and play hard."
