LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â The No. 18 University of Louisville field hockey team will open the 2026 campaign this weekend when the Cardinals play host to No. 10 Miami (Ohio) Friday at 12 p.m. and Indiana Sunday at 2 p.m. at Trager Stadium. Admission is free.

• In 2025, Louisville posted an 8-10 record and reached the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship which was held at Trager Stadium.
• The Cardinals return 16 letterwinners from last season including all-ACC selection Annabel Sep and USWNT U21 Team member Lauren Masters. Louisville also welcomes eight newcomers to the team. The 2026 roster also features Louisville natives Tyler Everslage, Megan Mauzy, Tatum Bohnert, Riley Guy and Reese Johnson.

• Sep was named to the Preseason All-ACC Team
• Gigi Edwards is Louisville's leading returning point leader with four goals and three assists for eight points last season.
• Annabel Sep, a 2025 NFHCA All-West Region and All-ACC second team selection, also registered four goals while dishing out two assists in 2025.
• Sophia Parker paced the team with five assists.
• Emily Young carried a 7-7 record and a 1.76 goals against average while collecting 62 saves in 2025. She brings a career total of 99 stops entering the 2026 campaign.Â

• Louisville was picked to finish eighth in the ACC preseason coaches poll.
• Louisville's Trager Stadium will also serve as the host site for the 2026 NCAA Field Hockey Championship November 20-22. It will be the seventh time that Trager Stadium will have served as the host site for event.
• Justine Sowry is entering her 16th season at the helm. During her tenure, Sowry has guided the Cardinals to nine NCAA tournament appearances, advancing to the quarterfinals in three of the last six years and reaching the semifinals in 2020.

Scouting the RedHawks: Miami enters its season opener ranked No. 10 in the NFHCA preseason coaches poll. The RedHawks are coming off of an impressive 2025 campaign in which they posted a 16-5 overall record and an 8-1 mark in the Mid-American Conference en route to capturing their eighth straight league tournament title. They went on to upset fourth-ranked Virginia in the NCAA tournament and advance to the quarterfinals where they lost to eventual national champion Northwestern.
NOTE: The bulk of the series between the teams dates back to when they were both competing in the MAC (Louisville was an affiliate member in field hockey from 1994-2004).

Scouting the Hoosiers: Indiana will play its season opener on Saturday when the Hoosiers take on Miami (Ohio) at Louisville's Trager Stadium. Last season, IU posted a 9-9 overall record and a 4-4 mark in Big Ten play.
• Inés Garcia Prado, Mijntje Hagen and Molly Stutte named to the Big Ten Players to Watch list.
NOTE: Sunday's game against Indiana will mark the return of former assistant coach Will Holt who was an assistant on Justine Sowry's staff from 2022-24 and a volunteer coach from 2012-15 while earning his bachelor's and master's degrees. Â
