
Men's Golf Earn the No. 10 Seed at ACC Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 35-ranked University of Louisville men's golf team is set to begin postseason action on Thursday at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, April 23-27 at Shark's Tooth Golf Club in Watersound, Fla.
Stroke play for the Cards will begin play at 10:12 a.m. EST off hole No. 10. The Cardinals earned the No. 10 seed in this year's ACC tournament and are slated to be paired with SMU and NC State for the first round of play.
All 15 teams in the field will play 18 holes of stroke play on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The top eight teams will advance to match play with quarterfinal and semifinal rounds set for Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m. and approximately 2 p.m. Eastern (Panama City Beach is in the Central Time Zone).
The championship match is Monday, April 27, at 10 a.m. Eastern.
The semifinal and championship matches will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
Louisville faces a difficult task as the ACC has five teams ranked in the top 25 in the latest spring rankings by Scoreboard powered by Clippd: The field is headlined by No. 2 Virginia, No. 11 North Carolina, No. 18 Stanford, No. 19 Georgia Tech and No. 25 Florida State. Notre Dame (No. 26) and Duke (No. 27) sit just outside the top 25.
The Cards shot an even par 283-292-289=864. During the season, Louisville recorded second place on two separate occasions and seven in the top five. The first coming when they shot 14-over-par in the Blessings Collegiate match, 289-290-289=878. They also tallied a second-place finish at the Michael A. Marino Classic shooting 11-under-par, 282-283-288=853, just four shots behind first place finisher NC State.
Louisville is led by Cooper Claycomb, who is ranked No. 102 nationally. The Bowling Green, Ky. native captured his first collegiate victory at the Michael A. Marino Classic, where he tied for first at 10-under-par, 68-68-70=206. He owns a team best stroke average of 71.55 and has posted three top 10 finishes.
Warren Thomis will be in the second position for the Cards. In his last event, the sophomore finished fourth with a score of seven-under-par, 70-69-70=209. Andrew Tan will play at No. 4 after coming off his 19th-place finish with a two-over-par at the Calusa in his last competition.
Easton Johnson and Brady Smith, who owns five top 20 finishes will also be competing on Thursday.
