Cards Face Busy Week with Middle Tennessee, Duke and UNC Ahead

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team is back in the Ville this Wednesday, March 11 and ready to face Middle Tennessee at 3 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center, UofL returns to ACC Action this weekend, when they head to Duke on Friday, March 13 before heading to Chapel Hill to face North Carolina on Sunday, March 15.

UofL is coming off a 4-2 hard-fought win over Xavier and currently stand at 8-4 on the season. The Cardinals are led by Germany Davis and Berta Miret, both of whom have seven wins apiece in singles. Alice Otis, who plays No. 1 singles has six wins and Elena Noguero has maintained a perfect record at 6-0 primarily at the No. 2 slot.  In doubles, the pair of Berta Miret and Elena Noguero post an 8-3 mark at No. 2. Germany Davis and Lucia Gallegos have combined forces to put up six wins at No. 3.

The two teams tangled last January 24 with the Blue Raiders prevailing 4-1 and MTSU has won the last two meetings.

Middle Tennessee is 5-8 as a team and is led by Sara Conde, who is 5-4 with a 3-1 record at No. 4 singles. Zenn Lim is 4-3 at No. 6 for the Blue Raiders. In doubles, the pair of Rutuja Chaphalkar and Sthefany Lima are 7-3 in doubles, playing most often at the No. 2 slot. MTSU split a Monday doubleheader, defeating Chicago State 4-0 before falling to Pacific 4-2 later that day.

 Duke (9-3) is ranked No. 15 and is led by No. 1 singles player Irina Balus, who is 8-1 at No. 1 in the dual season with teammat Aspen Schuman posting a 5-2 mark at No. 3. In doubles, the pair of Liv Hovde and Shavit Kimchi are 3-3 at No. 1 doubles. Balus and Schuman have consistently won at No. 3 with a 5-3 record.

The defending ACC champions Tar Heels are ranked No. 3 in the nation and are coming off a 4-0 win at North Carolina Greensboro last week. UNC's Reese Brantmeier won the NCAA Singles Championship last fall and is ranked No. 2 currently with a 9-1 record at No. 1. Tatus Evans is 8-0 at No. 3. In doubles, Alanis Hamilton and Brantmeier have put up a 3-1 record at No. 1 and a 4-0 record at No. 2.
