Cardinals in Second After Day One of Sam Golden Invitational

Louisville has three players in the Top 10
CORINTH, Texas — The Louisville women's golf team is sitting in second place overall after the first two rounds of the Sam Golden Invitational on Monday at the Oakmont Country Club. Playing in the first tournament of the fall, the Cardinals have three players in the Top 10 and are 18-under-par as a team heading into the final round on Tuesday.
The Cardinals were led by Thienna Huynh and Veronika Exposito over the first two rounds. The pair both scored 6-under-par 138 over the first 36 holes of the tournament. They are tied for fifth overall on the leaderboard.
Exposito was consistent through her two rounds as she tallied a 3-under-par 69 in the first and second round. She had four birdies in each the first and second round.
Huynh led the Cards in the first round of the day with a career-best 5-under-par 67. She had three birdies, an eagle and no bogeys over the first 18 holes of the tournament. In the second round, she was 1-under-par 71 with four birdies.
Madison Moman opened her collegiate career with a 3-under-par 69 in the first round of the tournament. She also tied for the team lead in the first round with four birdies. In the second round, she shot a 2-under-par 70 and is one stroke behind Huynh and Exposito at 5-under-par 137. She is tied for eighth overall.
Bailey Burkett got off to a hot start in the first round with four birdies over the first nine holes. She finished the first round with an even-par 72. In the second round, she was 1-under-par 71 with two birdies. Overall, she is tied for 35th at 1-under-par 143.
Millie Cottrell rounded out the squad for the Cardinals. In the second round, she was even-par 72 with four birdies. She was 5-over-par 77 in the first round and is tied for 63rd overall at 5-over-par 149.
