Three different players finished with a 2-over-par 74 in the first round
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Louisville women's golf team is in fifth overall after the first round of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational Monday afternoon at the Blessings Golf Course. The Cardinals shot 9-over-par 297 as a team as all five players competed in the same group, one of the features of the golf tournament that both the men's and women's programs are playing in.
Three of the five players for the Cardinals all finished with the same score after the opening 18 holes on Monday. Bailey Burkett, Millie Cottrell and Beatriz Barrios all carded a 2-over-par 74 for the round as they represented the three of the four scores for the team.
Cottrell and Burkett led the Cards with four birdies on the afternoon with both of them recording two on the front nine and two on the back nine. Barrios had three birdies for the round with one on the front nine and two on the back nine. All three players birdied the par-5 hole no. 10 to begin the back nine.
Carmen Griffiths was one stroke behind the trio with a 3-over-par 75 for the opening round. She had two birdies on the day, one on the front nine and one on the back nine.
Closing out the lineup for the Cardinals is Thienna Huynh, who finished with a 5-over-par 77 in the first round. She was 1-over-par over the first nine holes to begin the day.
The team will be back in action Tuesday afternoon for the second round of the tournament. All five players will continue to play together for the entire round. Fans can follow along with the live stats here or on our social media channels.
