
Isla Juffermans Wins NBL1 East Championship

The incoming freshman scored 15 points and 14 rebounds in the grand final
CAMBRIDGE PARK, Australia — Incoming Louisville women's basketball freshman Isla Juffermans took home some hardware over the weekend before heading to Louisville for the upcoming semester. The forward claimed the NBL1 East Championship as she and the Newcastle Falcons came away with a 85-78 win over the Sutherland Sharks in the Grand Final.
Juffermans earned the start and played nearly the entire game for the Falcons. She scored 15 points on 6-for-9 shooting and hauled in 14 rebounds for the double-double. Juffermans also added two blocks, one steal and one assist.
During the season for Newcastle, Juffermans played 16 games and averaged 18.2 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. The 11.2 rebounds per game was the fourth-best average in the NBL1 East division. She tallied a double-double in 10 of the 16 games for Newcastle. She scored a season-best 34 points on May 18 and hauled in a season-best 20 rebounds on June 22.
Newcastle advances to the NBL1 National Finals this next weekend but Juffermans will be coming stateside to begin the fall semester with the Cardinals. She is one of seven incoming freshman that will be on the 2024-25 season for the Cards.
