
No. 5 Seed Cardinals Open ACC Tournament with No. 13 Seed Boston College

Louisville is 14-8 all-time at the ACC Tournament
GREENSBORO, N.C. — The No. 5 seed Louisville Cardinals (23-8) are set to begin the 2024 Ally ACC Women's Tournament on Thursday morning in the second round. The Cardinals are set to face the No. 13 seed Boston College Eagles (14-18) following their win over Clemson in the first round Wednesday afternoon. The Cardinals and Eagles will face off at 11 a.m. ET from Greensboro Coliseum and the game will be aired nationally on ACC Network.
This will be the 10th ACC Tournament the Cardinals have played in since they joined the league in the 2014-15 season. The Cardinals have a 14-8 overall record in the tournament, have made the championship game four times and won the championship in 2018. Last season, the Cardinals knocked off the No. 1 seed Notre Dame en route to their fourth championship game appearance all-time. Louisville has advanced to the quarterfinals or farther in each of the nine previous tournaments.
The postseason ACC awards were announced on Tuesday afternoon and the Cardinals were well represented. Graduate guard Kiki Jefferson and senior forward Olivia Cochran were both named to the All-ACC second team. Jefferson leads the team with 13.0 points per game and is tied for the team lead with 2.5 assists per game. Cochran leads the team with 6.5 rebounds per game, 1.4 steals per game and 0.5 blocks per game.

Boston College is one of the best teams in the country in steals as they lead the ACC and rank seventh overall with 11.8 steals per game. The Eagles are 16th nationally and lead the conference with 20.7 turnovers forced per game this season. Dontavia Waggoner ranks sixth nationally with 92 total steals this season and averages 2.97 per game, a mark that is 14th in the country. Kaylah Ivey leads the ACC and ranks second nationally in assist/turnover ratio with 3.0 on the season. She ranks 13th in the country in total assists with 174.
Last Meeting (Feb. 15, 2024) - The No. 18 Louisville women's basketball team (21-5, 10-3 ACC) found a way Thursday night at Conte Forum and came away with a 69-67 win over Boston College (11-16, 3-11 ACC). The Cardinals trailed for a majority of the night heading into the fourth quarter but a 6-0 run to start the quarter gave the Cards the lead and they never let Boston College get back in front. Nina Rickards got the game-winning bucket with her layup with 19.1 seconds remaining. Rickards led the Cards in scoring for the first time this season as she tied a season high with 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting. Rickards also added three rebounds, two assists and a steal in the win. Sydney Taylor scored all 13 of her points in the second half and she was joined in double figures by Kiki Jefferson with 14 and Olivia Cochran with 11.
