
Women’s Basketball has Three Players on CSC Academic All-District Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — University of Louisville women's basketball players Nyla Harris, Sydney Taylor and Merissah Russell were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District List, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
Nyla Harris was one of two players to play and start all 34 games this season for the Cardinals. She was tied for the team lead with 6.6 rebounds per game, had a team-best six double-doubles and was one of four players to average 10 or more points per game this season (10.4). She elevated her play against conference opponents this season as five of her six double-doubles came against ACC opponents. She tallied a career-best 22 points against Syracuse and 15 rebounds against Florida State. The 15 rebounds were the most by a Louisville player in a game this season.
Sydney Taylor played in all 34 games and made 32 starts in her lone season with the Cardinals. Coming off the GLOBL JAM MVP last summer, Taylor led the team with 57 three-pointers and was tied for the second on the squad with 10.8 points per game. She scored a season-best 31 points and was 7-for-12 from behind the arc in the road win over Georgia Tech. The 31 points and seven three-pointers were the most by a Louisville player in a game this season. The seven three-pointers were the most in a game by a Louisville player since Dana Evans in 2020.
Merissah Russell played in all 34 games and made her first two career starts this season. She averaged 5.1 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Russell scored a season-high 12 points and hit three three-pointers in the come from behind win over Miami that snapped the Hurricanes 17-game home winning streak.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

- An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
- Athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's sets played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's total matches.
- Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
