No. 22/23 Cardinals Face Off With No. 17 Notre Dame in Regular Season Finale

Seeding and a double bye at the ACC Championships is at stake as both teams are tied in the standings
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 22/23 Louisville women's basketball team (23-7, 12-5 ACC) is hitting the road for the regular season finale this weekend. The Cardinals are set to take the short trip north as they head to South Bend for their second matchup of the season with the 17th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish (22-6, 12-5 ACC). The Cardinals and Irish will square off from Purcell Pavilion at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Sunday's game has seeding implications on the line for the upcoming 2024 Ally Women's Basketball Championship in Greensboro. Heading into the final game of the regular season, the Cardinals and Irish are currently in a three-way tie for third place with NC State. The winner of Sunday's game in South Bend will clinch a double bye in the ACC Championship and begin the tournament in the quarterfinals on Friday.
In the first matchup between the two teams this season on Feb. 8, the Cardinals came away with a 73-66 win over the Irish. Notre Dame came into the game averaging over 80 points a game and it was just the third time the Irish had been held under 70 points this season. In Louisville's most recent win on Thursday, they held Florida State to 55 points. Heading into the game, Florida State averaged a league-best 81 points per game and it was just the third time they had been held under 60 points this season.
In the win over the Seminoles, Nyla Harris and Olivia Cochran dominated down low. Cochran scored a team-best 16 points and had 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Harris had 11 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for her team-leading sixth double-double of the season. The 15 rebounds are the most by a Louisville player in a game this season. It was the first time the Cardinals had two players with a double-double in the same game since 2019 against Kentucky.

Nyla Harris led the way with a career-high 19 points and 10 rebounds, making nine of her 11 shots from the field and recording her team-leading fourth double-double this season. Sydney Taylor totaled 13 points, four assists, and two rebounds, and Kiki Jefferson rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points on top of eight rebounds, four assists, and a 6-for-6 night from the charity stripe. Nina Rickards played a crucial role on the glass, pulling down nine rebounds while tallying six points.
