No. 20 Cardinals Stumble Against Virginia, 73-68

Nyla Harris led the Cards with 17 points
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 20 Louisville women's basketball team (22-7, 11-5 ACC) fell to the Virginia Cavaliers (14-13, 6-10 ACC) this afternoon, 73-68.
Nyla Harris recorded a team-high 17 points while adding nine rebounds today. Sydney Taylor followed with 15 points on 3-for-8 shooting beyond the arc and Kiki Jefferson had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Cardinals started off the game lacking momentum, unable to pull down some critical defensive rebounds in the first half. Virginia had five steals and out-rebounded the Cards 24-14 in the first 20 minutes of action. Louisville was down 32-26 at the half.
However, Louisville came out for the third quarter ready to battle. The Cards went on a 24-8 run to secure an eight-point lead with two minutes remaining in the third frame. Taylor contributed with two triples, swinging the momentum back in the Cards' direction.
Louisville began the fourth quarter with a 54-47 advantage. The Cavaliers responded quickly, however, and tied the game at 61 with under five minutes to go in regulation. A 20-5 Virginia run spanning 7:23 put the game away for good and the Cavaliers won by a five-point margin.
Virginia's Camryn Taylor led all scorers this afternoon with 22 points. Kymora Johnson added 18 points and a team-high six assists and Paris Clark had 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Louisville will remain home as it prepares for the final home game of the regular season on Thursday night. The Cardinals will welcome Florida State to the KFC Yum! Center for Senior Night this coming Thursday, Feb. 29. The Cardinals will honor Nina Rickards, Kiki Jefferson, and Sydney Taylor as the trio concludes their collegiate eligibility this season. The Cardinals and Seminoles will square off at 8 p.m. ET, broadcast nationally on ACC Network.
