The first round was moved up a day due to weather
MELBOURNE, Fla — The Louisville women's golf team got an earlier than anticipated start to the annual Moon Golf Invitational at Suntree Golf Club on Saturday. The first round was scheduled to begin on Sunday but was moved up a day due to the impending weather in the area. The early start did not affect the Cards as they are in third place overall at 2-under-par after the opening 18 holes.
Louisville had three of their five players in the lineup finish at par or better and it was led by Hana Ryskova. She had a team-best 2-under-par 70 and is tied for sixth overall. Ryskova had three birdies on the round and carded an eagle on the par-5 10th hole Saturday afternoon.
Just one shot behind Ryskova was Carmen Griffiths as she fired a 1-under-par 71 in the opening round. Griffiths also had three birdies on the day with all three coming on the front nine holes. She is currently tied for 14th overall.
One shot behind Griffiths is Rylee Suttor as she finished with an even-par 72 in the first round. She had five birdies in her first round and is tied for 22nd overall.
Rounding out the team scoring for the Cardinals is Gabbi Bentancourt, who is tied for 32nd after a 1-over-par 73, and Beatriz Barrios, who is tied for 80th after a 6-over-par 78.
The Cardinals had three individuals also on the course on Saturday with freshman Millie Cottrell leading the way. She is tied for 48th overall with a 2-over-par 74. Carly Haines is tied for 82nd with a 7-over-par 79 and Molly Lyne is tied for 85th after an 8-over-par 80.
The second round of the Moon Golf Invitational will stay as scheduled for Monday morning. Fans can follow along with the live stats here or our social media channels for updates throughout the tournament.
