Kirwa Places 146th at NCAA Cross Country Championships

The freshman covered the 10K course in 30:13.1 to conclude his first cross country season at the NCAA level.
MADISON, Wis. – University of Louisville men's cross country freshman Geoffrey Kirwa wrapped up his first collegiate cross country season at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning.
Kirwa placed 146th overall after covering the 10K distance at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in 30:13.1.
The native of Kapsabet, Kenya became the first Louisville male to qualify for the national championship meet since 2016 after placing seventh at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships last Friday.
Over the course of his freshman season, Kirwa also led the team through the line at the ACC Cross Country Championships with a season-best 8K time of 23:19.0 to place 39th, while also placing 16th overall at the Southern Showcase and 26th individually at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational.
Kirwa and the rest of the Cardinals will now turn their attention to the indoor oval with Louisville's 2024-25 indoor track & field schedule set to be announced early next week.
