Louisville Cardinals Offense Ready to Battle Against the Miami Hurricanes
October 16, 2024 | Football
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville football team is focused this week ahead of Saturday's match-up against the No.6 ranked University of Miami as they are determined to add another Atlantic Coast Conference win to its record.
One person confident that the Cards will continue their progress is UofL Offensive Coordinator Brian Brohm. The second-year coach is looking forward to seeing more positive plays as the offense continues to work and improve throughout the season.
Brian Brohm brings enthusiasm to the week mentioning last season's 38-31 win over Miami at Hard Rock Stadium to help the Cards clinch an appearance in their first title game.
The Hurricanes are known for loading up the box, having a lot of speed and talent on the defensive line; making it difficult to run the football.
Tyler Baron leads the defensive line for Miami with 4.5 sacks this season. He is determined to add to his stat count and stop runs.
Brian Brohm understanding how Miami is aggressive and loads up the box also has play developing upside.
Coach Brian said, "It does allow sometimes for some big plays to pop when teams do that so we are going to have to find way to make that happen."
Issac Brown has made big strides throughout the season earning a starting position as a true freshman. Brown is a strong force for the Cardinals currently ranked eighth for rushing in the ACC for a total of 508 yards.
Coach Brian Brohm has given him more and more opportunities throughout the season and Brown has taken full advantage.
"He has proven he can be a real threat for our offense so really happy with how he has progressed," said Brian Brohm.
Last Week Brown touched the ball 23 times three different ways and scored twice in the Cardinals' 24-20 comeback win over Virginia in Charlottesville.
Brian acknowledged the power of Shough's presence on the field and how much he is looking forward to watching his hard work continue to develop him as a leader.
Overall, Brian expressed how "Tyler's been more than we expected" and "his leadership ability and knowledge of football has been off the charts."
Shough is a veteran player currently ranked fourth in the ACC for overall passing statistics. In last week's fourth-quarter drive versus UVA, he brought ease to the Cardinals as he pulled from past experience and he completed the game-winning touchdown throw to Jamari Johnson in the quarter's last two minutes.
Brian Brohm said, "I think that pays dividends and it showed" which "makes you really comfortable in those types of situations."
Brian Brohm and the Cardinals are looking forward to Saturday, Oct. 19th as they host the Hurricanes at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium to continue ACC play. Kickoff is at 12 p.m. ET on ABC.
