Cardinals Move to Third After Second Round of Tar Heel Invitational

Beatriz Barrios led the way with a 1-under-par 69 in the second round
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Louisville women's golf team moved up to third place after the second round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Finley Golf Club. It was another tough scoring day as no teams were under par for the round on Saturday. The Cardinals shot a 7-over-par 287 for the second-straight round and are 14-over-par heading into Sunday's final round.
Beatriz Barrios continued her strong play in the second round with a team-best 1-under-par 69 on Saturday. She had five birdies for the round and the 18-hole score of 69 is the lowest by a Louisville player this season. Barrios is seventh overall at even-par heading into the final round.
Carmen Griffiths rebounded with a 1-over-par 71 for the second round on Saturday. She had three birdies on the day and is 6-over-par and tied for 27th overall after the first two rounds.
Veronika Exposito carded a 2-over-par 72 in the second round and also had three birdies on the round. She is tied for 19th overall heading into the final round on Sunday.
Thienna Huynh was 5-over-par 75 for the second round and Millie Cottrell was 7-over-par 77 on Saturday. Huynh is tied for 34th overall and Cottrell is tied for 42nd heading into the final round.
Gabbi Bentancourt was 6-over-par 76 in the second round and is tied for 80th overall. She is competing as an individual this weekend.
The final round will get underway at 9:30 a.m. ET for the Cardinals as it will be a shotgun start from all holes. Fans can follow along with the live stats here or can stay tuned to our social media channels.
