Plummer Named to Maxwell Award Watch List

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville quarterback Jack Plummer has been named a preseason candidate for the prestigious Maxwell Award presented annually to the outstanding player in college football. The award watch list was unveiled today by the Maxwell Football Club.
Plummer spent one season at Cal and four years at Purdue under current UofL head coach Jeff Brohm.
As the starter at Cal last season in 2022, Plummer passed for 3,095 yards and 21 touchdowns. He ranked third in the Pac-12 and tied for 16th nationally in completions per game (23.50) in 2022 and completed at least 20 passes in 10 of 12 games including each of the last eight. The native of Gilbert, Ariz., threw for three touchdowns or more five times and at least one touchdown pass in 10 of 12 games.
In three seasons at Purdue, Plummer played in 21 games with 13 starts at Purdue and completed 319-of-492 passes (64.8%) for 3405 yards with 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions for a 136.35 quarterback rating. He threw for 1,603 yards and 11 touchdowns in his first season with the Boilermakers in 2019.
Plummer will open his first training camp at Louisville on Tuesday, August 1, at the Howard Schnelleberger Football Complex.
The 2023 winner of the Maxwell Award will be announced on ESPN's live telecast of The Home Depot College Football Awards on December 7.
This is the first of 16 preseason award watch lists that will be unveiled over the next two weeks by the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA).
