
Rowing Places 23 on All-ACC Academic Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville rowing team placed 23 athletes on the 2022-23 Atlantic Coast Conference All-ACC Academic Team as announced on Monday.
The list includes Ellee Grosser (biology) and Evey Peplowski (physics), who are making their third appearance on the list. The Cardinals also posted sevenfreshmen on the team as Emma Bell (psychology), Olivia Guarnaccia (finance), Claire Carver-Ritter (exercise science), Emily House (psychology), Victoria Iorillo (equine management), Lauren Posa (exercise science), and Macy Whisenand (undecided) made their first appearance on the list.Â
Syracuse's Hannah Murphy was been named the 2022-23 Atlantic Coast Conference Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as the senior bioengineering major, Murphy helped lead the Orange V8 to their first ever ACC title and their third consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship
A total of 256 student-athletes were honored on this season's team, and a total of 21 student-athletes are three-time honorees, while 35 student-athletes earn their second award. Seventeen of the 18 All-ACC honorees also secured spots on the academic honors team: Boston College's Rebecca Butler, Clemson's Ana Luttrell, Duke's Megan Lee and Lauren Sizemore, Louisville's Caitlin Bentley, Miami's Constance Stirling and Alyssa Bacchus, Notre Dame's Natalie Hoefer and Maggie Newell, Syracuse's Murphy, Annika Maxson and Kami Kralikaite and Virginia's Leia Till, Larkin Brown, Janet Conklin, Vivi Van Ingen and Tahne Badenhorst.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award was established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team's regattas.
