
Cards Open Regional Action in a Tie for Sixth Place after One Round

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's golf team shot a 1-under-par 287 to sit in a tie for sixth place after the first round of the Morgan Hill Regional played on the Institute Golf Club, in Morgan Hill, Calif., on Monday.
Louisville is tied with Grand Canyon for sixth place and just two shots out the fifth spot, which is the final place needed to advance to the NCAA Championships on May 26-31 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Mississippi State is leading the way at 12-under-par, while Florida State is in second place at 7-under-par. Pepperdine is in third place at 4-under and Baylor and Charlotte are tied for fourth at 3-under-par.
Sophomore Sebastian Moss paced the Cardinals with one of his best rounds of the season, shooting a 2-under-par 70 to sit in a tie for ninth place after 18 holes. Moss played the first nine holes at 2-under-par before shooting an even-par 36 on the front nine holes. He birdied No. 5 and No. 6 before suffering a double bogey to close his round. He stands just three shots off the overall lead of Missouri's Alfons Bondesson, who holds a one-shot advantage over the field a5 5-under-par.
Max Kennedy and Jiri Zuska, the two top players for the Cards, closed the first day by finishing in a tie for 28th place after carding an even-par 72. Both players shot identical rounds, shooting 1-under on the back nine and 1-over on the front. Kennedy birdied holes No. 14 and No. 16, while Zuska scored on No. 13 and No. 16.
Mads Roddik is tied for 40th after shooting a 1-over-par 73. He opened play by carding a 4-over-par 40 in his first nine holes but responded by shooting a 3-under-par 33 to give the Cards a lift.
C.M. Mixon is tied for 59th after registering a 4-over-par 76.
