Louisville Defeats Clemson 4-2

Cards register fourth straight ACC win
CLEMSON, S.C. – The No. 40-ranked University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated No. 58 Clemson 4-2 Sunday at Duckworth Family Tennis Facility in its final Atlantic Coast Conference road match of the regular season.

With the win, the Cardinals improve to 14-9 overall and earn their fourth straight league win to move to 5-6 in conference play.

Louisville struck early with doubles wins on courts two and three. David Mizrahi and Alex Wesbrooks teamed to beat Jorge Plans Gonzalez 6-2 at No. 2. The Tigers answered at the two-spot to even the doubles tally, but Sergio Hernandez and Natan Rodrigues clinched the point with a 6-2 win over Matt Pitts and Tim Pitts.

In singles, 50th-ranked Salle dispatched Spencer Whitaker in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 at the three-spot to push the Cardinals' lead to 2-0. Â

The Tigers answered with a win on court one, but the Cards bounced back with Andre' Steinbach's 6-0 6-4 win over Tim Pitts at No. 6 Â to make the score 3-1.

After Clemson added another victory, Mizrahi sealed the win for Louisville with a 7-6 (6), 6-3 decision against Stinchcomb on court five.

"We battled through some tough conditions with a lot of wind, but the guys handled things very well and came out with the win," said UofL head coach Rodrigo da Silva. "We are excited to be home for the last two matches of the regular season."
Louisville will wrap up the regular season at home with Notre Dame visiting the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center for an ACC Network televised match on Thursday at 5 p.m. The Cards will celebrate senior day on Sunday with a 3 p.m. matchup against Middle Tennessee State.
